Mapping of mobile phosphorus and environmentally hazardous substances in sediments from the Baltic Sea

Between 2018 and 2020, the Erken Laboratory coordinated a project in collaboration with the Baltic Sea Center at Stockholm University and IVL Swedish Environmental Institute that mapped the mobilization of sediment phosphorus (internal load) and the presence of several environmentally hazardous substances (metals and stable organic substances) in sediments in the Baltic Sea coastal areas. Chemical analyzes of different phosphorus fractions were performed in our laboratory. The project was mainly financed by the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management (HAV) with grants from the county administrative boards in Uppsala, Stockholm, Södermanland, Östergötland, Kalmar and Blekinge counties.
